A DWI can be expensive and cause legal hassles, difficulty finding or keeping a job, shame and embarrassment, loss of trust from loved ones, and regret. The human toll of a DUI crash can devastate the lives of victims and survivors forever.
The "Drive Sober. No Regrets." campaign shares personal accounts from real offenders and survivors that challenge any notion the audience may have that they can avoid the consequences of drinking and driving. It emphasizes the importance of always finding a sober ride and the many options available.
2020 Quick Facts
In 2020, there were 23,166 DUI-alcohol related traffic crashes in Texas, resulting in 963 fatalities and 2,102 serious injuries.
Although there was a 6% decrease in DUI-alcohol related traffic crashes in Texas in 2020 compared to 2019, there was a 5% increase in fatalities during that same period, even during the pandemic.
In 2020, 5% of total traffic crashes in Texas were DUI-alcohol related.
In 2020, 25% of total traffic crash fatalities in Texas were DUI-alcohol related.
